Hi Claus, you should just copy/paste the URL for the vid directly into your post (don't use the video embed button.) In this case I also had to change https to http for it to work :-p .
Sorry for the technical snag,

This piece was introduced a couple of months ago and having now had a chance to see it in person, during the grand opening of Lange's first boutique in North America, in Palm Beach, I can attest to its incredible beauty. The "tremblage" engraving technique is incredibly labor intensive; apparently the dial takes two weeks to make. I absolutely, positively would not have the patience but having
The short answer is that I don't know --it's possible, but I think it's probably got more to do with how they were constructed initially; for instance, stamping a case instead of machining it, which work-hardens the metal and changes its acoustic properties, as opposed to machining a case, which is the modern practice.

Hi all,
I got a request on Twitter a while back for some pictures of the Richard Lange and since we do requests, here they are :-) these were shot at the Lange boutique in Dubai at the Dubai Mall. A fantastic place to visit with terrific staff; the young lady who showed me this watch obviously knew both it and the company backwards and forwards. My sincerest thanks to the boutique staff for
I had a week back in New York . . . and then, it was off again for parts unknown, at least to me. Breguet, I'd heard, was celebrating the 200th anniversary of the "Queen of Naples" watch --a wristwatch made for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, and delivered in 1812. Breguet, as you might expect on such an occasion, meant business: we were to join them in Naples, at the Capodimonte Palace (Carol
Next day we went to Granville, Normandy, by helicopter from Paris. The helicopter is an interesting device. Da Vinci famously created drawings of one (that wouldn't have worked but hey, he was still way ahead of anyone else) and the first working helicopter (and I use the word loosely) was built and flown, not by Igor Sikorsky (who did design the first successful mass produced helicopter) but b
Next stop: the Bienalle des Antiquares, held this year at the Grand Palais which was created for the Universal Expo of 1900 and is every inch Neo-Classical oomph meets steampunk hubris.
Here's the Neo-Classical . . .
And here's the steampunk (interior) --very Jules Verne if you ask me.
The Biennale des Antiquares is a show of the best of the best in jewelry, art and rare anti
It's that time of year again --we've just closed our last issue of Revolution Magazine in the USA, and I've been on the road more or less constantly since September. It's been one heck of a fall --I've been to Paris (a lot) as well as Switzerland (several times) and less frequently visited locations including Naples, Capri, Berlin, and Dubai. With all the running around and work involved in get

2013 will be the Year of the Ingenieur for IWC, and the collection has been expanded and refined with a host of new models --including the new Ingenieur 40mm Automatic, which returns to the size and design of the Gerald Genta designed Ingenieur SL, which first debuted in 1976. The new 40mm Ingenieur Automatics are not exact duplicates of the original design --aside from the fact that the IWC log

Hi everyone,
We're on the way back from an amazing three day visit with IWC and the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team --a full report's coming soon, so stay tuned, but these were too good to not share right now.
A sneak peek at what's already one of my personal favorite new watches of 2013: the IWC Ingenieur Automatic. Self-winding, 40mm, a fantastic homage to the original Gerald Genta design
As you all know, Audemars Piguet had us in Berlin last month to interview Michael Schumacher, and to introduce the new Royal Oak Offshore Michael Schumacher chronographs. Though the Royal Oaks cast a long shadow, it's good to remember that Audemars Piguet was considered one of the Big Three Swiss haute horlogerie watchmakers long before Genta ever put pen to paper and created the world's first s
Greetings everyone,
As the designated annoying guy with a camera, I decided to do a quick informal visual survey of what people were wearing for the 3 day Jaeger LeCoultre event in Paris. It was a full 3 days --we saw the new UTT, as well as three new watches which are embargoed until SIHH, and also attended a gala event for the opening of the new JLC boutique on the Place Vendome, which is a
Hi everyone,
Thought I would share with you some pictures from the UTT launch event in Paris last week, while we await Jaw's full report. As you all probably know the UTT uses the Duometre "dual wing" movement concept in which two barrels power respectively the going train and the complication. In this way, the power demands of the complication do not affect chronometry. Traditionally the w

Geneva -- Antiquorum's November auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces," held on Sunday, November 11 at the Mandarin Oriental in Geneva, concluded with an outstanding result of CHF 8,631,137 and several lots selling for multiple times their original estimates.
The top lot of the auction was unquestionably the extremely rare Rolex Si
This just in from Bloomberg, via our friends over at Hodinkee.com: the owner of the Patek Philippe Graves Supercomplication (yes, _that_ Graves super complication) just pledged the watch --the most expensive ever sold at auction --and other goods with a total value estimated at over $83 million, to cover his debt to Sotheby's.
Bloomberg reports:

. . . sorry for the long absence --the storm played hell with everything, to put it bluntly. A week with no power, heat, hot water, Internet or phone . . . quite a mess. Still, we had running water the whole time and a roof over our heads so we're lucky --some were not so.

Hi everyone,
Forget movie stars, F1 pilots, basketball players, football teams . . . if you are a real watch fan the provenance of this Patek Philippe chronograph will light up your day like a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.
This watch belonged to renowned Patek Philippe régleur Jaques Golay.
Notes for this lot, No. 582, to be auctioned by Antiquorum Geneva on November 11th.
Yesterday in New York, a few of us had an opportunity to see, together, two watches that up until that moment most of us had seen in person only one at a time, if we'd seen them at all.
ID One and ID Two from Cartier.
As I'm sure everyone knows these two concept watches are each one of a kind --proof-of-concept platforms for exploring new solutions to some of the oldest problems in watc
Hi everyone,
Please forgive the long radio silence --the East Coast of the USA, and New York in particular, were hit with a storm of historic proportions. We have had no electricity, internet connection, cell phone coverage, heat, or hot water since last Monday evening (the 29th) and power was fully restored only today. Still waiting on the heat and hot water but it's a start.
I thought I
