I first introduced Ludovic Ballouard in early July with Introducing Ludovic Ballouard, an upcoming new Independent and Felipe Jordão's posted an excellent interview here interview with Ludovic Ballouard on the TimeZone Independent forum

But a video is worth a 1000 pictures (or something like that) so to have a better idea what an 'Upside down' indication is, please watch this short clip.

upside down and not easy to read...

surely a technical first and a patented achievement, but, I have hard time to find it readable. If there was a way to display only the number of the curent hour and hide the others (instead of having them upside down) I would find this more appealing...

I'm sure the eye gets used to it fast though.

Any clue Ian, when the first pieces will be cased up ?

let's imagine for an instant that the number for the hour is painted only on the right part of the small disk where it is painted now (now it is right in the middle of the small disk), and the left part is masked with a semi-disk above it. when the number is up right, we see that one only.
When the number is upside down, it is on the left side of the disk and hidden behind the semi disk. the dial would only show the current hour, up right and in its right place. all other ones which are upside down would be hidden.

(food for thoughts, for a version 2, may be...).

This is a suggestion to keep in mind thumbs up, but if all the upside down numbers are hidden, then Ian is right again grinning smiley.

Is the fact that Ludovic began working on this project in March 2009 and is on track to DELIVER his first 12 watches in December. he has been testing the working protototype for weeks now.

and will make the first clients who believed in the project spend a very pleasant Christmas.

Buying a watch because you believe in a concept, appreciate drawings or have faith in the words shared with the maker without anything else to put between your fingers is much more challenging (and risky) than subscribing to a trend (follow a herd of sheep).

The slogan "Watchmaking in the making" used by Goldpfeil Genève when they launched their watch project, summarizes this up very well.

It must be an awesome feeling to be among pioneers winking smiley
