Surely I cannot be the only one who has read or heard,
"It's the photographer's eye that makes the shot, not the camera and lens.", nodded wisely and then gone out and spent a small fortune on a new camera or lens that I had no doubt would improve my images.
And the fact it didn't, didn't deter me in the least from repeating the process Ad nauseam.
Another oft used (and abused) phrase is
"A picture is worth a thousand words."
This article by Ming Thein on shooting with an iPhone, illustrated by a few of his photos, drives both adages home with a 10 ton hammer. And makes me want to cry at my own inadequacies when it comes to composition.
