Martin, welcome at Revo and congrats with your new Santos!
The Santos family is a complex collection of models that evolved a lot over the years. The watch was introduced in 1978 as the Santos (or Santos Carrée), in steel/gold, all steel or all gold. Later on the Santos Ronde and the Santos Octagon were added to the collection, but were never that popular and are, as Dino mentioned already, not available anymore. These models had a flat case. When the Santos case (and bracelet) got a complete make over, the name changed into 'Santos Galbée'. 
- Current Santos Galbée XL and vintage Santos Carrée, note the curved case of the Galbée version - 'Galbée', because the case of the watch became curved. Currently there is also the larger model, the Santos Galbée XL with automatic movement, while the current smaller model is quartz. The Santos Carrée dimensions are: 41mm x 29 mm (ladies model was smaller) The Santos Galbée XL dimensions are: 45.5 x 32 mm Different changes, but still the same watch.
