Announcement: Change in Ownership at Chronoswiss


Big news at Chronoswiss: Mr. Lang and family and an entrepreneurial family from Switzerland have found an agreement on the 100 % acquisition of the current business of Chronoswiss Watches GmbH. The Swiss family intends to continue the legacy and heritage of 69-year-old Gerd-Rüdiger Lang, founder of Chronoswiss. Due to their extensive management experience both in operating companies and in the financial world, the new owners bring along perfectly complementary skills to the profound horology- and technical know-how of the existing Chronoswiss team. Hand in hand with the well-proven and highly motivated team at Karlsfeld, the Swiss owners strive for dynamic and strong growth and a profitable base for the years to come.

With this important step, the future and continuity of the brand Chronoswiss are finally secured after the difficult past few years. The company´s location at Karlsfeld/Munich will remain unaffected and will be taken over with all its staff. The new headquarters will be based in Switzerland, which means that Chronoswiss is finally coming home – back to the roots and origin of its brand name. The entrepreneurial family feels most committed to the Chronoswiss history and will keep on manufacturing mechanical watches according to Swiss standards of quality. Endowed with fresh capital, strong new business capabilities and high motivation, the team is now able to continue its work in the grand tradition of Chronoswiss watchmaking.

Currently, the necessary legal steps are still in the process of being implemented; we will update you as soon as everything is finalized.

The new owners are Swiss national Oliver Ebstein (37) and his wife Eva, who directly and privately own all interests in Chronoswiss. The entrepreneurs share a passion for mechanical timepieces. Oliver and Eva Ebstein are dedicated to the heritage and tradition of the brand, and have deep respect for Gerd-Rüdiger Lang´s lifetime achievement. Powered by this motivation, the new owners want to perpetuate Chronoswiss as an independently run family business. Furthermore, Chronoswiss will continue manufacturing mechanical watches from high end Swiss components according to the highest standards of quality.

“We will take on full responsibility for the company and its employees by being personally engaged in the business; we are here to stay for long term. We are looking forward to dynamically and persistently shape the brand´s future and success together with the entire Chronoswiss team. Chronoswiss is a real gem!”, says Oliver Ebstein.

Founder and master watchmaker Gerd-Rüdiger Lang will continue to provide his expert knowledge to the new owners in an advisory role.
