i know we had a few spam people get in every once and a while, but i dont get why the need for such a change? everything is confusing now and im guessing most will get frustrated and the forum will be even slower now..
. . .this style of message display is actually easier for most users, largely because you can see who's posted what to a thread without having to open the top post. Virtually all the functionality from the last forum is still here, and some things, such as posting videos, are actually quite a bit easier. I think if you give it a chance you may find yourself warming up to it .
I have to agree with Riley on this one. Without going into too much detail, I find that nothing beats the intuitive interface and ease of browsing of the vBulletin software. Having said that, I am hoping to get used to this software in a relatively short time.

I never really took to vBulletin personally, though I came to appreciate its flexibility and functionality, I found its structure for displaying threads quite unnatural and counterintuitive. I suspect it depends a good deal on what discussion structure you were first exposed to. Nothing ever feels like home so much as your first home.
That said I suspect you'll find this quite easy to use. Amusingly enough, there was quite a bit more bitter division of opinion over just changing the background color (a relatively trivial change) that there has been thus far over swapping out the entire software package! It does point out how amazingly important certain very basic details are in constructing a hospitable web environment.

Thanks for your input, Jack. As to the colors, they really were never good and the last one was the worst. At least to me, it was. Now this new software seems to carry on the same color scheme which I find very hard to read. White background is okay, but the smallish thin black font is very hard to read.
i just find the views from the outside of each post very cluttered and confusing... ill mess around w/ settings but based on the slow posting here before, im guessing less will post now... making this ghost town. :-(
. . . just go to "control panel" (link at top of page) then select "forum settings" and from "message list display options, choose "display only one message per thread" and hit "submit".
You will then see only the initial post for each thread and will have to click on it to see the entire thread, just like the good ol' days .

the hierarchical view can get pretty intimidating at first sight... lotsa gauges give you more info and control, which is good till one gets cross-eyed and ploughs into a ditch... what i do is go to "control panel" as Jack suggested, then make the two settings:
Message list display options: one entry per topic
Message reading display options: multiple messages per page, sorted by time
this works for me. but the fonts... hey, a little larger won't hurt, but i don't know how to adjust that yet, or even if i can.
First of all: Thank you, Jack and the Horomundi team, for your tireless work to keep the forum up to date. I like the new visual layout and the options to select one's favourite settings. Especially, I fancy the new reading display option with the indentings which make it easy to see who is replying to whom. On the other hand, I miss the "Today's posts" button which gave a quick overlook about what has been happening at Horomundi without having to enter a particular forum. I would also appreciate to have the option to list the threads (and posts) by the time of the last post (and not only by the time a thread was started). As Horomundi is not to busy it was possible to think about (and reply to) some interesting watch-philisophic or technical subjects weeks after a thread was started and it thus was possible to keep a (educative or interesting) discussion alive for a long time. If all posts are listed by the initial date of the thread, only, a late post might get overlooked. This could result in quick but perhaps also less thought-out posts and thus to a loss in quality of the contributions.
. . . I think one solution is to link back to a post you find of interest if you find something old that you want to discuss again.
Also if an interesting thread that has an interesting conversation going starts to get bumped off the first page, we do have the option to sticky it to keep it on the front page.
