This watch is like a breath of fresh air, I love it Thanks a lot for the report Ian Now let me be teh first to ask: will we see a variation of this model, a CC2 ?? Did you get any footage from the presentation or with the watch itself ?
The UR-CC1will be available in a LE of 25 grey gold with titanium caseback and a LE of 25 black gold with titanium caseback.
Assembling an regulating the movement consumes too much of URWERK's limited watchmaker resources and they have other projects in mind.
This was just something Felix and Martin wanted to do for themselves; the UR-CC1 is not going to become an ongoing third model in the URWERK collection.
If you mean, 'did I take any video?' last night, the answer is no. But I hope to video the UR-CC1 in the near future.
... so there isn't going to be a CC2. But my intel tells me we could see a partially engraved CC1,on the small window that hides the seconds ring, I have seen photos. And if you get the CC1 in front of the camera, please film it for at least a full minute from the front, to see those seconds pass.
I was reffering to the black window that covers the ring and has the seconds written on it, what I have seen in other photos was just the pre-finish piece.I have sent you a pm with the photos.
especially when what many people like about URWERK's design are their sleek curves and the UR-CCi is all about (linear) straight lines.
But it was never intended to be a normal URWERK (if that isn't too much of an oxymoron): the UR-CC1 was a horological challenge Felix and Martin (with constructor Dominique Busser) wanted to undertake and they happily succeeded. I'm sure there will be at least 50 people in the world that understand and appreciate the UR-CC1 for what it is.
But certainly not everybody.
I agree with you that it makes the UR-202 look tame by comparison.
I love the technical aspect but could not imagine how the design would work on a wrist. It wasn't until I saw Felix wearing the CC1 prototype that I started to feel comfortable with the watch, and it was really seeing it worn on a number of wrists at the presentation night that I was won over completely.
The development costs were huge- 3 years work- and those have to be amortized by only 50 watches. On the other hand, the fewer there are, the more likely they are to hold their value (or better).
The minute disk doesn't just rotate, it is a retrograde. When it gets to 60 minutes it instantaneously unwinds 300° and in doing so triggers and powers the jumping hours.
but i think the seconds have way too much going on versus the minutes and hours.. if the min/hour were larger and "wearing the pants" i would like it more..
but my opinion doesnt really matter given the pricepoint.. i wouldnt go over 130 on an UR even if super complicated..

The idea behind the seconds was to animate the watch a little.
With the jumping hour static for 59.9 minutes per hour and the linear minutes moving slowly (I must calculate the speed one day), the seconds wheel adds a bit of life to the dial side.
It certainly is a polarizing watch. There doesn't appear to be a middle ground between 'I like' or 'I dislike'. The UR-CC1 doesn't leave anybody indifferent!
Incredible smart watch. Allthough I prefer more simple concepts like the 103, I find it unbelievable that URWERK is able to come up with a clever watch like this. GEO
Thank's for the answer,i understand all this, amazing product are expensive, but we gonna see in the future and i don't think after 3 years of "research" they don't gonna do more then 50 pieces, this is what they do now but after the first 25 pieces in white gold and the 25 pieces in black gold i bet with anyone they don't gonna "forget" the ADN of the CC1, time let us know, anyway I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this watch and i'm gonna do the best to have one, maybe pictures soon!
The reason the will only be 50 CC1s and that's it is that they take up too much of URWERK's limited resources and (he whispers) . . . they have other projects in development that will become future models.
Whether the style is to the individual's tastes is subjective and besides the point, which is that the UR-CC1 shows just how technically advance the team at URWERK is.
This was a watch developed 'Because we can and we want to,' rather than, 'Because it will sell? or' It's what the market wants (another tourbillon?)
Absolutely breathtaking pictures. I somehow like the 202 substantially more. The CC1 is quite nice. But has too much going on and resembles a radio station tuner on one's wrist. I have seen the RG 202 in person and was absolutely floored. Thanks for posting!
