Born in 1900, converted into an urban circuit in 1933, the Grand Prix de Pau
is one of the world's five circuits that have retained their original layout.
The 2,760-km layout unfolds with the breathtaking panorama offered by the Bearn
region capital over the Pyrenees Mountain range as a background.
In 2009, the ASAC Basco Béarnais entitles Peter Auto to give a fresh start
to their Grand Prix retrospective launched in 2001, the aim being to turn this event
into a date on the international historic racing calendar.
Richard Mille, already main sponsor and official timekeeper of the Le Mans Classic
since the event’s debut in 2002, will be partnering this revival.
This historic race, which cannot be overlooked by any motoring enthusiast or car collector,
will be held every two years, alternating with the Le Mans Classic.
The single seaters and GTs seven grids will relive the Grand Prix history of the Pau circuit.
Over the decades many famous names have been associated with the race – Nuvolari, Fangio,
Ascari, Clark, Steward, Rindt, Brabham – and more recently Montoya and Hamilton.
They have all been behind the wheels of some of the most evocative names in racing – Ferrari,
Maserati, Bugatti, Lotus, Mercedes, Brabham...
Richard Mille is delighted to be joining forces with Peter Auto once again and excited
at the prospect of being the Grand Prix de Pau Historique Official Timekeeper.
