A brand with Panerai heritage

Dear Horomundians/Panerai fans

I am considering some new diver’s watches….Panerai among them of course (PAM 241 in particular).
During my search the brand Anonimo grab my attention, especially when I discovered that it is owned/directed by Dino Zei (I assume you know who’s he, as he was an important part of Panerai until few years ago).

Now I wonder if some of you own such watches, or have any opinion regarding this brand.

Thanks,
Slide68

PS:
I am not sure whether this is the right forum (due to the Panerai heritage of the brand) or not….
If not, I will move it to Prime Time...

I'm not saying they are bad, as it is also a matter of taste, but nevertheless they are more or less trying to copy the success of Panerai isn'it ?
The thing that bothers me the most is that the cost of an Anonimo in base versions is almost the same as a Panerai, with the difference that on the second hand
market a Panerai keeps rather good value while an Anonimo is a horror to sell at a decent price. If you ever buy one than consider a second hand one or at least a hefty discount on the retail price !!!

just my 2c

go for the real stuff spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

ps. there was the same question on an other forum that might help you further also , [www.network54.com]-

Hi Patrick,
thanks for your feedback, indeed the Professionale is the only one of their line i really like, and by other hand it is really difficult to see them live (even here in Italy) as there aren't many AD.

This could be also a good reason to buy one, as you won't see many of them around :-)

Thanks again (also for the link)

Agreed fully with Patrick's view.
When Anonimo was first launched, I did seriously looked at the Militare, because of its unique crown design. But decide to give it a miss as after looking at it for some time (a friend of mine had a Militare Chrono then), still prefers the look of Panerai...smiling smiley
The Professionale (2000m), which was launched later, is a nice watch as well. The case design and the crown is rather unique.

Ultimately, its a matter of taste and preference.

Cheers!

Just to clarify that Anonimo is owned by Francesco Massacesi and his wife, I believe Dino Zei has a licensing/profit sharing agreement with Anonimo.

Some of their designs are interesting but the quality control is on the weak side, interesting concept and idea but I wouldn't compare it with Panerai in any way.

When I visited their facilities and offices some years ago there was nothing that I could see which could bring to the fore any connection with Panerai except at that time their strap supplier Fabrizio Ciampi and Famiglia were the same suppliers for Pre-Vendome Panerai, post Vendome Panerai switched to Austrian Hirsch straps, the same as the one's on Cartiers and so on.
