How many of you are a fan of the 1950 case?

I am a big fan of the 1950 case. So I am really happy to see that the new P.9000 Calibre (3 days PR) is housed in the 1950 casing...smiling smiley
I'm sure this new range is gonna be another big success for Panerai. I love the PAM312!

I recalled when Panerai first announced the PAM127 1950 (47mm) in 2002, I went crazy over it as I was hoping for the re-issue of the 6152 since I got my first Panerai in 2000. Love the 1950 casing. It just give the watch a very vintage look. And the '9' besides the sub-second counter...WOW! (though PAM127 is not the first modern Panerai watch with '9' besides the sub-second counter. PAM62 Radiomir was the first.).

Subsequently in 2005, the 44mm 1950 range was introduced, with PAM212 (flyback Chrono) and PAM213 (Rattrapante). Now the 1950 range includes many of the in-house 8-days (P.2002 Calibre) and 10-days(P.2003 Calibre) movt, like PAM233, 270, 289 etc.

So here is a pic of my favourite PAM127:

Cheers!

Hi Kok Sian,

Great to have you around here and Congrats to your new appointment.....

I believe most paneristis love the 1950 cases. These iconic cases will be here for the long haul. As OP has began rolling out with the 312, I would long to see it as a base model with the 3 day movement too. The unique case is one of the reason why I am still loving it.smileys with beer

Thanks for the support.

Yes, a base model on the 1950 case with the P.9000 calibre would be fantastic!

PS: We need to have a Singapore GTG soon....smiling smiley

Cheers!

Good to see another historic lover....smiling smiley

The interesting thing about this new P.9000 Calibre range on the 44mm 1950 case is that it has both the historic and contemporary elements in it. On one hand, you got the historic,/iconic/vintage looking 1950 case, and on the other hand you got the automatic movt (vs manual wind), with date, PR, and GMT. A historic looking watch that is practical for daily use or traveling.

Hi Kok Sian,

I like the P.9000 range of automatic movements with 3 days power reserve. On my recent trip to the HK Boutique, I caught a glimpse at the new PAM312 with the range of other pieces launched during the SIHH 2009. The 1950 case in 44mm looks good and wearable, although I do admit I need some time getting used to the date function display. I guess I missed seeing the PAM309 which I hope to see it in the metal soon.

Cheers,

Haha...you must be a Historic guy (if you have a problem with the date)....smiling smiley
The date is quite subtle in the 312 as it is not magnified. When I travel, I usually wears one with date. So this is ideal.
104 used to be the most historic looking contemporary range. I think its got to be 312 now.

Cheers!
