PAM372 and PAM127

Here are some pics that I have taken for the PAM372 and PAM127. They are 2 of the most beautiful watch released by Panerai, IMO.
Both are unique in their ways...smiling smiley

PAM372 :

Close-up of PAM372. The dial is the nicest part IMO. Look at the deep engraving of 'LUMINOR PANERAI'. This new dial is a winner! :

This is what I like about PAM127 - the iconic subsecond dial besides the 9 :

Side by side case comparison. PAM372 (top) and PAM127. You can see the difference in the case design. PAM127 has a thicker lugs. The crown-guard level opens in opposite directions : PAM127 opens from the bottom whereas PAM372 opens from the top. The case for PAM372 is like a Radiomir case with lugs and crown guard :

Both are really nice watches.
For PAM127, if there is no '1950' on the dial, it would be perfect.
For the PAM372, some collectors that I have spoken to felt that the hour-hand is a tad too short and thus not proportional. Not an issue for me though..smiling smiley

Hope you like them...smiling smiley

Chua can you tell the difference in curving of the domed crystal.
I know it's plexi, but I understood that the 372 has a less domed curve than the 127.
You understand that I have not had the 372 in my hands yet.

The difference...

1) The plexi in PAM372 is 3mm thick, whereas the sapphire crystal in PAM127 is 2mm thick, .
2) The plexi in PAM372 starts vertically at the edges first, then curves. The sapphire crystal in PAM127 starts to curve almost immediately at the edges.
3) The idea of the sapphire crystal in PAM127 is to mimic the look of a plexi, which resulted in distortion at the edges. You can see the distortion in PAM127 in the pics above.

Hope this helps to explain the differences.smiling smiley

I thought so when I looked at the photographs, but I thought they were identical.
The glass of the 127 has a lot of charm since the distortion of the numbers had a great effect.
Interesting that Panerai dropped this idea.
Cool watches, both of them.

Glad that Panerai has made the PAM372 a regular production...it makes the PAM372 is more affordable and accessible compared to the one-time SE PAM127...smiling smiley
