Brightness of lume in aged luminova

As we know Panerai has recently released several models with the aged or vintage luminova (that looks like the aged tritium). I love these aged luminova.the finger smiley
There were questions about its brightness, as asked by my friend slide68 when I posted the PAM411 Firenze Boutique special..smiling smiley

So specially for you slide68, and others who are interested to find out its brightness, here is the pic comparing the brightness of the PAM0 (left) and PAM411 (right) :


I placed both of them under a light source for 30 sec. Then off all the lights to take this pic. As you can see, the standard luminova in PAM0 is brighter than the aged luminova in the PMA411.

PS: Sorry for its poor quality as my camera does not have bulb mode for long exposure.

I'm not too concern about the brightness, the vintage look of the aged luminova is what I like smiling smiley

I love the light coming from the PAM 0,
but in daylight the vintage look is what I prefer.
That yellowish tone is gorgeous.

The pic does not capture the brightness of the PAM0 properly. Its actually much brighter and glower than the PAM411.
Yes, its the look of the aged luminova that matters..smiling smiley

These faux tritium dials look impressive.

I can't say it 'replaces' the Tritium dials of yesteryears, but it stands up brillantly on its own as a new dial inspired by the Tritium dials.

As for the brightness in comparison with the zero, I am not too concern as it is bright enough for me.

Thanks Chuaks for making this comparison.....Indeed i suspected that the standard luminova was brighter that the aged one....Even if this last has its special appeal.
It would be interesting now to know what's the reason for that....Maybe that for aged one the luminova is mixed with a non-luminous colour ? I wonder if you can make luminova (or similar glowing materials) of whatever colour (including aged yellow).
I've seen blue, green, white luminova so far but i don't know if and how the colour degrees can be adjusted.....

Too many questions, i know...I should simply enjoy the glowing without thinking too much!!

I suspect the brightness of the luminova will be affected once its not the standard color as some other component needed to be added to achieve the correct coloring.
Not sure how is the brightness of the red, orange, yellow, black luminova used by other brands. I think black luminova will have the worst brightness. Just a logical guess..winking smiley

indeed i had a good holiday, one week in a mountain hut placed at 2700m asl....Several interesting treks exploring trenches from the WWI on the mountains of northern lombardy, Italy.
By the way, i used my Casio pro-trek, one of the earlier models from the past century....

It would be interesting to make some research on the luminova field to know how many (let's say "natural") colours are there, and how the single brands instead try to make them more original adding substances....

I made a quick comparison at home (no pictures, sorry) among several brands, i have to say that Seiko seems to have the most luminous material (even if their index markers seems to have a bigger surface compared to most of others).

Yes, Seiko has got very bright luminova.

Lume is so strong that it seems like there's a luminous ring within the case.

Great watch anyway, the pity is I can't find it here in my city... :-(
