Jaeger-LeCoultre Vintage Timepieces Fetched Great prices at Last Sunday's Antiquorum Geneva Auction.

Jaeger-LeCoultre watches hit record prices at last Sunday's “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” Antiquorum auction in Geneva last Sunday.

LOT 15 steel Reverso with the elusive red lacquered dial (1947) signed “LeCoultre Reverso” for example was sold at 50,000 CHF despite an initial estimate of only 8,000 CHF - 12,000 CHF.



At the thematic Reverso sale held by Antiquorum in May last year, the red dial example set at the time the record for the most expensive vintage Reverso to be sold at auction for CHF 35'000 (lot 225).

Another Lot 16 Geophysic chronometer, model launched in 1958 on the occasion of the International Geophysics Year fetched 36,250 CHF (estimated initially at 8,000 CHF - 12,000 CHF).



As a key player during this era, Jaeger-LeCoultre devoted its innovative spirit to the field of accurate round automatic watches equipped with useful functions and which were both ergonomic and able to stand up to all kind of trials. Geophysic watches were given to the crew of the US Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine who did a trip to the North Pole in 1958. This watch was made to be anti-magnetic to 600 Gauss to combat the effect of magnetic fields that could disturb the timekeeping qualities of the watch.
