Very exciting past few months!

Greetings and Happy New Year to All !

Thanks in no small way to Geo, the Cartier Forum and it's fine members, I discovered that there is much more to the world of watches than Breitling, Omega and Rolex. My first Cartier, the Calibre de Cartier, started the ball rolling. Revolution Online maintained my interest and awakened my senses.

Lately, I have been lurking on the Jaeger-LeCoultre forum. I am overwhelmed by the amount of time spent and effort made in the presentations, posts and threads, both here and on the other forums.

It is astonishing that I could spend years admiring certain timepieces, yet pass them by as though they were not fitting for me. Such was my experience with Cartier and Jaeger-LeCoutre.

Enjoyment of the Calibre de Cartier inspired me to look for a second Cartier. My heart is set on a watch with a rectangular case. The aesthetics of the Tank Solo and Tank Louis Cartier models appeal to me the most. However, their model selections and options disappoint me. I began to look for an alternative.

This forum sparked my interest in the JLC Reverso models. A number of models are available with simple, classic dials and mechanical manual-wind movements! Last Friday I started researching, and Saturday went to an AD to see some models.

I rather impatiently await news of the Cartier models for 2012, hoping to see a couple of Tank models with a Cartier inhouse movement, or at least some manual wind movement from Piaget or JLC. Be that as it may, I have become obsessed with the JLC Reverso models, convinced that one of these may be my next watch.

Thank you for reading. I do ramble on. This forum has been a great source of information and entertainment for me and has vastly increased my interest and awareness of JLC.

Hi Carl, thank you very much for your nice words about the forum!
I am not surprised to find you here in the JLC forum, especially when you're thinking about a rectangular
shaped watch.
The Reverso is a really sweet watch and especially the anniversary edition with the flat case is só cool.

The red dial version especially is very daring.

Like you, I am also waiting for the Tank news Cartier will be presenting coming Monday and if it is where
we hope for; a watch with a steel case and mechanical movement, it will for sure have some heavy
competition from this beautiful Reverso.
Interesting fact about both brands is that they have such an incredible long relation together.
JLC produced movements for the very first Cartier watches in the early years and is still producing
movements for a couple of Cartier watches, like for instance the Pasha 42, Ballon bleu Chronograph.

I have tried not to say it since I saw this beautiful model last week, for the first time on the forum: This is my favourite Reverso! That is such a beautiful shade of red, and I love the simplicity of the silver hands and markers. Nothing to take away from the beautiful red dial, only to enhance it!
For the past few days, I have been trying to talk myself into believing that the regular Grande Reverso Ultra Thin model, or the Classique with the arabics, are my preferred models. This is simply because I don't see how in the world I would ever come to own the red dial model. I am sure production will be limited, and I know it is only a Boutique model.

On the weekend, at a local AD, I was surprised to see a Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute 1931 with a black dial. Not only that, but I didn't realize until I got home and did some research, that it is the USA Special Tribute model. What it is doing here in Canada, I have no idea. I had noticed that beside the watch I saw, which had the leather/alligator strap, there was a beautiful handmade calf strap which also comes with the watch. When I found out the significance of the model, I was really very tempted to make an effort and purchase it. After I got home, and discovered the red dial Tribute, I realized that I would always wish I had the red dial model. Not only that, but I prefer the shape of the hands on the regular Tribute model, to the USA Special.

Thinking about these models could cause some very sleepless nights!

Beautiful shot! That red just seems to take on a slightly different hue through that glass. I imagine it looks gorgeous in any lighting situation.

The red dial Reverso looks very nice. Very different and not too crazy. It would be beautiful with jeans and a casual shirt.

After about a decade of incessant breakthrough products from Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Le Sentier Team presented us with the unbelievable Duometre Spherotourbillon (see separate posting soon) which once again prove that the Manufacture is as innovative, competent and impressive as ever.

This year marks a time where the 2012 team is more focused, confident with more timepieces true to the traditional serious watchmaking skills of Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Although the heritage of Jaeger-LeCoultre is very diversified in terms of historical product range, my personal feel that this is the year which is more Jaeger-LeCoultre than any other Jaeger-LeCoultre year.
