I had the great pleasure to be invited to Belles Montres by Greubel Forsey, who were still basking in the limelight from their «L’Aiguille d’Or» prize from the 2010 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

This year was the 4th year that Belles Montres has been held was the most successful yet. The quality of the show, the brands exhibiting and the visitors were all generally superb.

Through the arch to the enormous courtyard of the Louvre. Access to Belles Montres is under the red canopy

The famous pyramid lights the underground reception area to the Louvre museum

The model shows the incredible constructions under the Louvre courtyard. Belles Montres is in there too

Down the rabbit hole. Belles Montres is beside this upscale shopping mall.

An inverted pyramid plays the same function as that of the Louvre, i.e. to let in light.

I don't know much about art but . . .

If it tells the time, I'm in!

Welcome to Belles Montres 2010!

Belles Montres is now one of the best watch exhibitions in the world and one of the few shows where you can talk to watchmakers and CEOs of many of the brands. I highly recommend visiting Belles Montres next year if you happen to be in Paris in November.

And a special thank you to Greubel Forsey for making this report possible.

Looks like it was a fantastic show to say the least! Loved the report Ian, I'm sure I'll have to go back a couple times just to realize how many great watches were there. Thanks as always for bringing us with you on such a great experience.

This is so cool to see the photos of the Salon again. And even though i was there for 2 days and an evening, I see things in your photos that I haven't seen during the Salon.
Thanx Ian... and it was a pleasure to see you again, although it was way too short!

Cheers,
Frank

Extensive coverage. Nice pictures. Funny how when you remove all intermediaries between the maker and The user, the passion takes over.

Hi,

That's much more subtle version. A man whipping around town in an expensive convertible might think it makes him look cool and exclusive.

Really wonderful.....!

And, unlike Baselworld and the SIHH, collectors have a good chance of talking to CEOs and watchmakers as well as to handle the pieces.
