The 3rd Belles Montres exhibition was held in Paris 27-29 November and I had the great fortune to be invited to attend by Greubel Forsey.

Belles Montres is held in central Paris at the Carrousel du Louvre and attracts a large number of visitors, many of whom discovering the world of haute horlogerie for the first time and appreciating the timepieces as art (and rightly so).

If you could not make it to Belles Montres, I hope that the following photos provide an idea of the experience.

The entrance is through that door in the centre, and the whole complex is underneath the courtyard of the Louvre

I very nearly made a sound recording so that viewers could listen to how it sounded as well as look at the photos, but decided that was a step too far . . . perhaps I'll shoot video next time. smileys with beer

Now I know how you use the report, I will add links from the brands to their websites in future to make learning more easier.

That looks really great. I am wondering if you can go there uninvited or do you need an invitation from one of the exhibitors? The good thing from this exhibition is that you can have a look at the watches very closely. In Basel it is difficult for a collector to see the watches and have a good conversation because almost are booths are closed to the 'normal' public.

This exhibition would be a great way to combine with a visit to Paris.

You do not need any invitation to go to this event. Basically, it is open to the public from Friday to Sunday. You do have to pay a small entrance fee (about 15euros or so). Looking forward to seeing you there next year. smiling smiley

As Boon Chong Soon correctly stated, everybody is more than welcome at Belles Montres. For those not receiving an invitation from a brand, entry tickets can be purchased at the entry (all previous editions, the entry ticket was 10 Euro).

Jürgen you mark a point in saying:

"The good thing from this exhibition is that you can have a look at the watches very closely. In Basel it is difficult for a collector to see the watches and have a good conversation because almost are booths are closed to the 'normal' public".

While Baselworld and SIHH are trade shows, Belles Montres is made for watch nuts. Not only can visitors look at the watches either in the window or on a presentation table but also they get the chance to talk to the brands representatives, if not the directors/owners themselves.

Note the date, Belles Montres returns next November in Paris (26, 27 and 28th of November 2010) but will also be showing in Sao Paulo (22, 23 and 24th of October 2010).
