It was the talk of the booth and I believe this watch could be an even bigger succes for GO than the Sixties.
I'm really curious what your opinion is and do you have a favourite dialversion?
let's talk about this piece, share your thoughts, pro's and con's...at the end of April we'll pick one reaction,
randomly, and we added a nice Glashütte Original prize for this reply!
so, game on! what about the Seventies!?
cheers and thanks, Wim

It's a really strong design, and it captures the essence of the era very well and in a good way; as some of us are old enough to remember the 70s was an era when some somewhat, ah, challenging designs disturbed an unsuspecting planet . The 70s was also the decade when an awful lot of what are now considered classic examples of the men's stainless steel sports watch with integrated bracelet made their appearance, and I think the GO 70s is solidly in this tradition --strong visual impact from the case, beautifully made integrated bracelet, and a high grade automatic movement all make for a punchy and at the same time very harmonious design. My personal favorite is the blue dialed version.
I agree, the Seventies has a strong relationship with the decade. In the GO booth at Baselweorld there were two GO's from the real Seventies showed and the new piece has so much DNA from that period of time and from the style...
Blue is your favourite...ok, not sure yet about mine!

if you don't mind.
Sure blue in general is quite popular, but with regards to watches,
I have absolutely nothing with blue and I really dislike blue straps on watches.
So my choice would be the classic white dial, with gold index and hands.
Love the combination of white, gold and steel.
Very wise decision to release a watch on bracelet, in general I find them more
comfortable than leather straps.
Good looking watch!

even if i don't like square shaped watches, i have to admit that this is an eye catcher.
I like it, and i like the way the bracelet is smoothly part of the overall design.
For sure, as many already said, this strongly reminds of seventies watches.
I would go for the blue one, even if the black is fine too.
The seventies was about extremes but horologically, it was conservative. Maybe by today's standards but when I was a young boy, watches back then did not readily took my attention unless the design was somehow more avante garde than the usual fare. I do not recall much of analogue watches but somehow the red LED watches come to mind and later the quartz craze. But many of the brands continued to manufacture these timepieces for the conservative market and the new GO Seventies look like a honest and accurate reproduction of the watches from that era - apart from the big date. If it were not for the big date - the watch would most definitely be easily mistaken as a pristine copy of a seventies watch. However, the big date to me is a positive update to the design giving it a more modernistic appearance.
. . . for some reason I would have thought (based, admittedly, on what little I have deduced about your personal tastes from your stewardship of the Cartier forum) that you would find a blue dialed watch attractive.
That said I can see your point --I suppose the classical execution and harmony of the white dialed version of the watch make it more versatile as well.
. . . for those of us who grew up during the '60s and '70s, which are increasingly receding behind us, a big date is not only a nice style update but increasingly a practical necessity .
Hi Jack, it's just a personal thing I guess, since I do like blue for suits & shirts.
But blue dials and blue crocodile straps just don't do it for me.
Readability is another thing, quite often a bit hard with blue and black,
especially when it's a dressy watch with thinner hands.
You can wake me up for a salmon dial, or beige.

but on the other hand, the blue dial is kind of attractive on this specific watch. Although, after a bit research in my head ;-), I'd go for the silver/white dial...maybe safe but still...

is, like you said Harry, a very nice extra on the Seventies. At the Basel fair I saw two GO watches made in the 70's and the new Seventies is the next level. A re-edition with extra's, if I may say it that way.
Harry, did you had the chance already to shoot some of your fantastic pics of this beauty?
thanks and cheers, Wim
