wow, it's been three weeks already but I had some busy weeks. Finally selected some pics worthy enough to share with you all!
Edwin (-=EHH=-) and yours truly left The Netherlands to visit Dresden and Glashütte for a week last month. It was a stunning week with some visits to remember at the Glashütte Original manufacture and the A. Lange and Söhne manufacture. We had meetings and dinners, we visited Schloss Eckberg for an exquisite dinner, one day Prague, made lots of pictures and drove through the hills and valleys...
Edwin ordered a new car lately but his new baby wasn't delivered yet. The guy from the car dealer was so kind to loan us a brand new BMW X5...what a way to travel!!! Thanks mister BMW dealer!
ok, this was part I of the report. There will be a few more parts in the coming weeks with of course also lots of watch content! So stay tuned for an insight of the Glashütte Original manufacture and my meeting with my dear friend René Marx and our guide Michael Hammer who showed us the whole package in the German Watchmuseum and the Manufacture...
cheers, Wim

You made me curious already Wim. Please add some photos of Dresden as well so I can convince my wife that we have to go there not only because of the watches.
I'm looking forward for more. I had the chance to drive one of those X5's for a snow test up here in the Vallée and I was impressed of the performances of the car and could not get to the limits of the car.
ok, time for part II...Edwin and I visited the Glashütte Original Manufacture on Monday, two days after arrival. We had a warm welcome by René Marx and Michael Hammer. We started with a delicious glass of Saxony bubbles and had a little chat in the Atrium
Michael started the tour and the following pics will show us the department where they make all kind of small parts like wheels, bridges etc. etc. they are cut by a wire
so sorry I forgot his name but this very kind man showed us, with an unbelievable speed, how the balance is filled with the tiny screws...it takes just a few minutes...Edwin and I had a try...well...not a success... it's very difficult to do this job!
The little Glashutte town is a special place on Earth indeed.
Of course, VERY special for those of that happens to have an interest in the "finest of fine" traditional German watchmaking :-)
