Exceptional timepieces from the Girard-Perregaux museum collection will soon tour the world. This exhibition will be the most important set of Girard-Perregaux timepieces ever showcased outside Switzerland.

Visitors will travel through two centuries of time measuring art and witness the evolution achieved in the field. The exposition contains bridges to major events, public figures and works of art which marked world history. Entitled "A tale of inspiration - Unveiling 220 years of watchmaking Art", the show will stop in :

- Singapore - Art & Science Museum - September 16th to 18th 2011
- Shanghai - Sinan Mansions - October 20th to 23rd 2011
- New York - Boutique Girard-Perregaux on Madison - November 18th to 26th 2011

Among rare timepieces, documents and watchmaking tools presented, one of the highlights of the exhibition will be the "Esmeralda", a masterpiece made by Constant Girard-Perregaux which was awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889. If there is one Tourbillon with three gold Bridges to remember it is La Esmeralda.

This is the occasion to visit Paris (twice if you can, Printemps Haussmann and Belles Montres) or get a free tour by Jack of the Big Apple.

....At least for the moment.....Given the weather situation eye popping smiley

Yes travelling is becoming another hobby of mine...Only real problem is that too many hobbies (watches, guitars, music, travels etc) are difficult to follow if you also have to....Work !

To all watch fans and fans of art deco etc., this exhibition is a must see! How often do you get to see the Three Bridges Tourbillon pocket watch? Pictures is one thing but for me the real timepiece left me speechless. now I know why it won the grand prize thumbs up

GP did a wonderful job of presenting not only the timepieces (very important) but Willy Schweizer showed us more than just the watches but the history behind the watches and the items reflective of that era.

Kudos to GP for a wonderful exhibition!
