Interesting article in the New York Times.....

Francois-Henry Bennahmias, president and chief executive of Audemars Piguet North America, said a Royal Oak cost $3,000 in 1972 and would be worth $35,000 to $60,000 today, depending on the condition. He said new Royal Oaks started at $14,000.
I love the way the CEOs and heads of luxury watch companies have a very selective memory..... "WHAT ABOUT ALL THE QUARTZ RUBBISH YOU RELEASED???? ESPECIALLY THE QUARTZ LIMITED EDITION CRAP!"
Surely an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in quartz is worth nothing near the $35,000- mark or even the $14,000- mark!
I just love how these people re-invent the history of the company and forget some of the models (like the royals disowning a nazi supporting family member aka The Windors and King Edward!).
