Hi Carl,

The Frederic Piguet caliber 21 was in both the CPCP and pre-CPCPC Louis Cartier Tank. The Frederic Piguet is an extraordinary movement; it was introduced in 1925(!) and for decades the thinnest manual wind movement with a height of only 1.73mm. Great thing about this movement is that it is very dependable and a good looker too!

Cartier also used this movement in the CPCP Santos, and "upgraded" it at some point with the intertwined C decorations.

Hi Martin,
I haven't heard of this movement. I assume the LC Tank is a CPCP model?
You are right about the quality of the Cartier bracelets. I am very glad I got the bracelet on my Calibre, it really is a work of art! With each link having four very small screws, two on each side instead of two on the one side. I really think it adds to the aesthetics of the bracelet in a very pleasing way, with screws all the way along the bracelet on both sides. And the final link, which joins on to the end link, with it's tapered edges to match up with the lugs. Not to mention the wonderful hidden clasp. Nobody does the brushed surfaces as well as Cartier.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the Tank Solo today, and taking a real close look at it, and trying it with the bracelet. Actually, I had in my mind that I would buy one today, and eventually sell my two Rolexes. The Explorer and Air-King are two of my favourite models, but I find the aesthetics lacking the interest, fun and whimsy of the Cartiers.
But I think I will wait until we see what the new models bring in 2012. After all, this Tank Solo has been out since 2004.
Every time I look at my Cartier, I see and appreciate someting new in the detail. I am becoming more passionate about the Cartier timepieces as time goes by!
Cheers,

Hi Carl,

The Tank is indeed a great watch! I love the LC Tank with Frederic Piguet Caliber 21, because it is such an understatement. At the same time, I know what you mean with the Tank Solo on a bracelet; that watch simply has something. A classic but changed in a subtle way that it gets a more casual look. Cartier needs to do more with bracelet's, they have always excelled in it!

Great years, great watches associated with them, but what about the "domino's" that seem to bee falling? Can they provide a clue? Their design would make a great bracelet....or is it a hint for the introduction of a new line of square Tank's??? That last thing might be wishful thinking because basically I don't have a clue what they are aiming at. I guess we just have to wait for the next teaser....

I was just about to say that too.
When I thought about all these famous years, I realized that actually every year in the clip,
is the introduction year of one of the famous watches Cartier designed, but to me it still doesn't ring a bell.
I am afraid we will have to wait until January to find out and I am sure it will be quite something,
otherwise Cartier would not have made such a cool video clip.

WOW! 1917, where the clip starts, is the year Cartier created the Tank. The years, throughout the clip, highlighted in red, all seem to be various stages of the Tank development and introduction of new Tank models. Except 1928, where I only find a reference to Tortue single pushpiece chronograph. I tried doing a bit of a search for each of the years on the clip.
Very clever journey through time using the Track.
Personally, I can't wait to see what will be forthcoming! My personal hope is that there will be a traditional Tank watch with a manual wind.
I am going to the Boutique tomorrow to look at a new Tank Solo, stainless steel with steel bracelet. This model was introduced in 2004, so maybe it will be the one to be changed?
Exciting times ahead for us Cartier enthusiasts!
Cheers,

Exiting video and music, I watched it 5 times now, but it is not clear to me what will Cartier bring next year.
The numbers play an important role in the clip, but what does it mean, I wonder who has an idea what it could be.
