URWERK ZEIT DEVICE

Felix Baumgartner from URWERK was in town this week to show a handful of local media and friends of the brand the new Zeit Device. It is a refreshingly new device - a step away from the norm that we often see from brands showcasing their watches. The Device is not only huge (sized like a iPhone) but it is also very heavy. Urwerk has a 1000 year indicator on it and seems quite optimistic that any of the 8 limited editions will be able to last a millennia. But I am sure if the device was treated carefully as a piece of art as many of the world renowned art pieces are - it may have a fairly good chance.

...tfs! It makes me wonder now if it is possible to place all those complications in a wristwatch...hmmm...i dont doubt Urwerk can do that. They are always full of nice and amazing horological surprises(:P)

:-) - I WISH!

It is the desire of watch photographers is to shoot movements without crystal attached. Unfortunately it would be too much trouble so the next best thing is to create the next best illusion is to shoot with lighting props to prevent reflection.

I have to say that due to the massive proportions I was not ready for the size and had to rethink how to shoot the whole watch without having to stand way back with a 100mm lens.

I wonder too - is it a marketing gimmick to have a 1000 year gauge or does the company actually able to believe that the product can last that long regardless of whether Urwerk will still be around?
