Paris Musée d'Orsay

This year is the 180th Anniversary of Jaeger-LeCoultre and 2013 will certainly be an eventful year for the Grande Maison. Months before the turn of year however, the luxury watchmaking house was planning a few concurrent events to give a fitting preview of what's ahead. Amongst them, the opening of the largest mono-brand watch boutique in the prestigious Place Vendôme Square on November 2012 and concurrently a temporary watch exhibition and a dinner with close friends of the brand at the much respected Musée d'Orsay.

The Paris Musée d'Orsay (Orsay Museum) Was the former Orsay Railway station, a building built for the 1900 World's Fair. Up until the start of World War II Orsay was the head station of the French South-Eastern line. By 1939 however, the platform had become too short and was confined to serving only the Parisian suburbs. It would later turned into a modern hotel (in the Seventies). With renewed interest in the 19th century, the place was turned into a museum and it was inaugurated by the then French President François Mitterrand on 1st December 1986.

In many ways, the choice of Orsay Museum as the venue is befitting of a serious watchmaking brand like Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. The establishment boasts a worldwide reputation as the veritable cathedral of impressionism, possesses an almost limitless diversity of its collections and is a temple of modernity celebrated by the greatest artists and thinkers. Interestingly, like Jaeger-LeCoultre, the place was also constructed in the 19th Century to celebrate the creativity and genius of the period, much like Jaeger-LeCoultre founded 180 years ago by the visionary Antoine LeCoultre.



In the 2011 movie "Hugo", in one of the scene when chased by the inspector, Hugo climbs up the clock tower and is forced to climb onto the clock hands to hide from the Inspector. When Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jerome Lambert was watching the movie with his family, the moment when Hugo was hanging precariously by the clock hand and the epic looking clock tower made a deep impression on him. It was there and then that the CEO decided that the dinner had to be held in an appropriate place with a similar clock tower.

Amazingly, the Orsay museum fits all the requirements. To organize a temporary Jaeger-LeCoultre exhibition at the museum is difficult enough, to host a dinner within the museum for the friends of the brand within the museum sounded like something only the Jaeger-LeCoultre team could pull off.

By the time the memorable evening event was over, everyone there would agree - Jaeger-LeCoultre did pull it off!

Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jerome Lambert was in top form as he explained the significant of the Place Vendome Boutique just a few months before the 180 anniversary of the brand.

Following our previous posting on the Jaeger-LeCoultre Place Vendome Boutique Opening, here are more images of the exceptional evening.





Place Vendome is the ultimate home of luxury and is considered by many as the most prestigious address for the luxury industry in the world and 500 square metre of retail space in Place Vendome is an impressive fact worth repeat postings here. On the opening event, more than 800 guests and celebrities were there to witness as Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jerome Lambert inaugurated the boutique and cheers were heard in the square as Mr. Lambert alongside Diane Kruger and Guillain Maspetiol cut the ceremonial opening ribbon. Diane Kruger is a famous actress and a friend of Jaeger-LeCoultre and Guillain Maspetiol is the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand manager in France.



Celebrities present included Catherine Deneuve Carmen Chaplin, Isabelle Hupert, Ines de la Fressange, Vincent Perez, Jose Luis Rebordinos, Olaga Sorokina and Marina Hands and scores of others.



After the official ribbon cutting, the guests were limousined to the historical Grand Hotel for an after party celebration, where the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre UTT was unveiled and guests entertained with exceptional performances by an equestrian show and a circus female artist.



It was a memorable evening!

In the Duometre Dual-Wing concept, energy is independently supplied to two different mechanical functions through the same regulating organ, and it is no secret that I consider the Duometre one of the most original idea in solving one of the most talked about horological problems long ignored by the haute horlogerie industry.

The first white gold version of Duometre UTT is launched in celebration of the newly expanded and renovated Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique at the most prestigious address for the luxury industry - Place Vendome, a small square where every top luxury brand must be present to claim legitimacy at least to certain group of observers where location presence is of utmost importance. I remember speaking to the CEO of another luxury brand some years ago regarding Place Vendome and I was basically told "You are either at Place Vendome or you are not"! And for those outside the square trying to claim to be at Vendome, another French executive from a jewellery brand used to say "rue de la paix is great and nearby, but it is still not Place Vendome"!

Just 3 days ago, on the eve of the 190th anniversary, Jaeger-LeCoultre invited watch lovers worldwide to the largest Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique in the world. The No. 7 Place Vendome flagship was not only ground zero for the anniversary festivities but fitting site for the unveiling of a horological first- the new Duometre Unique Travel Time watch.



Jaeger-LeCoulture CEO Jerome Lambert flanked by the beautiful Diane Kruger and Guillain Maspetiol, Jaeger-LeCoultre Brand Manager for France played hosts to over 800 guests gathered at the new concept store where Manufacture LeCoultre displayed its past, present and future.

Notable guests like Catherine Deneuve, Carmen Chaplin, Isabelle Huppert, Ines de la Fressange, Vincent Perez, Jose Luis Rebordinos, Olga Sorokina, Marina Hands and other attendees were treated with rays of light projected from the legendary Parisian column bathing the boutique in a glow of wheels and gears on its facade and windows.


Jaeger-LeCoultre Place Vendome watch highlights

Collectors, brand devotees and watch connoisseurs were treated to many treasures on display including the world’s smallest mechanical movement-the Calibre 101 but the highlight that took the breaths away for many of the attendees was the Duometre Unique Travel Time watch.

Issued in a limited run of only 100 pieces, the timepiece features 2 red 7 and 9 numeral indices paying tribute to the address of the Boutique but the real scene stealer was the new calibre with “Dual-Wing” system dividing the movement into two mechanisms: one displaying the time at origin (your local time wherever you are), and the second to show another time zone.




The real kicker is the horological breakthrough achieved, for the first time ever on a worldtime watch, the traveller can adjust time in the time zone to the nearest minute- both movements are set by the same crown, keeping the minimal aesthetic worthy of a gentlemen’s watch.

The evening ended with cocktails and rousing circle acts and an equestrian display.

As the designated annoying guy with a camera, I decided to do a quick informal visual survey of what people were wearing for the 3 day Jaeger LeCoultre event in Paris. It was a full 3 days --we saw the new UTT, as well as three new watches which are embargoed until SIHH, and also attended a gala event for the opening of the new JLC boutique on the Place Vendome, which is an amazing experience to visit.

If the number of them I saw is any indication the Reverso is still, after all these decades, one of the most successful Jaeger LeCoultre watches of all time (and deservedly so.) And now . . . the wrists (also, a few off-the-wrist shots, but all watches shown guaranteed worn by actual guests.)

Thought I would share with you some pictures from the UTT launch event in Paris last week, while we await Jaw's full report. As you all probably know the UTT uses the Duometre "dual wing" movement concept in which two barrels power respectively the going train and the complication. In this way, the power demands of the complication do not affect chronometry. Traditionally the way in which sonneries were constructed, Jaeger LeCoultre has extended the concept into a variety of complications including the Duometre a Spherotourbillon, Duometre a Chronographe, and Duometre a Quantieme Lunair (apologies for omitting the accents but I got back last night and the jet lag's killing me.)

The "unique" part of the UTT's name stems from the fact that the minutes hand can be set to the minute, which means that not only can you set the 2nd time indication to any time zone --including those with half hour and quarter hour offsets from UTC --you can also set it to some second time indication of your choice. For instance, you can leave home time set to civil time, and the second indication can be used for mean local solar time, or sidereal time, if you prefer (I would pick sidereal time personally.)

It's a lovely, clean design and a both useful and very enjoyable complication --a wonderful addition to the Duometre family.

For this new movement, the Dual-Wing system is divided into two distinct mechanisms: the first
is devoted to displaying the local time, and the second to show that in a second time zone. The
two mechanisms share the same regulating organ but each has its own independent source of
energy, thereby avoiding the losses due to interaction between the mechanisms. The operation
of the dual time-zone display does not in any way influence the running of the watch, a fact that
considerably enhances the precision of the watch.

Each mechanism has a 50-hour power reserve and, governed by a wish to achieve ideal userfriendliness,
the same crown serves to wound both barrels. The timekeeping barrel is wound by
a counter-clockwise rotation, and the travel-time barrel by a clockwise rotation.

Act II: given the complexity of the functions, the finely grained dial provides impeccable clarity.
Two magnificent symmetrically arranged subdials lend a perfectly balanced touch to this
horological creation: the first subdial at 2 o’clock sets the stage for the hour and minute hand;
while the second at 10 o’clock hosts the hour and minutes of the worldtime. Two red 7 and 9
numerals specially applied on the dial pay tribute to the address of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique.

Beckoning observers to travel and presented like a globe, the day/night indication and the hours
disc are placed at 6 o’clock, a location that considerably facilitates their read-off. The single
crown is used to adjust the travel time zone in position 1, and the local time in position 2, as
well as to wind the mainsprings when in position 1. Turning the crown in a clockwise direction
winds the standard time indication and, turning it in the opposite direction winds the travel
time-zone indication.

Act III: Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 383, a remarkably beautiful and exquisitely finished movement
is revealed through the sapphire crystal caseback. Its bridges and gear trains are hand-chamfered
and feature polished sinks. The moving parts, also hand-chamfered or adorned with polished
sinks, are graced with a snailed or smoothed finish. These decorative touches are clearly inspired
by the grand tradition of the brand’s pocket-watches and lay new milestones through their
exceptionally refined finishing. The engraved names of the cities corresponding to the world’s
24 time zones are also visible through the back.

Issued in a 100-piece limited series in 18-carat white gold, the Duomètre Unique Travel Time
watch has been specially produced for the inauguration of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Place Vendôme
in Paris, where it will be available as of November 20th. A worthy heir to the Duomètre line, it is
a celebration of technical and precious Fine Watchmaking, vividly illustrating 180 years of history

The eighth anniversary of the partnership concluded between Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin is being celebrated with the presentation of the AMVOX7, the first vertical-trigger chronograph equipped with a radial power-reserve display. Developed by the Manufacture from the Vallée de Joux, the AMVOX line has for almost a decade been appealing as much to devotees of fine watchmaking as to motor sports fans. The AMVOX7 Chronograph displays the signature characteristics of an iconic collection within a new case featuring an even more ergonomic shape, and testifies to the avant-garde spirit of an alliance entirely dedicated to aesthetic and technical innovation, inspired by the prestigious British car maker.

Before inviting closer inspection, the AMVOX7 Chronograph immediately draws the gaze to the motif adorning its dial and featuring the pattern of the radiator grille of the Vanquish, the brand-new model unveiled by Aston Martin last June. Nonetheless, this obvious similarity served as a background canvas against which to undertake formal research entirely in tune with the technical characteristics of the watch. The Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmakers and artisans have devoted particular care to creating refined decorations. The diversity of the finishes enhancing the various surfaces lends remarkable visual depth to a black dial with anthracite grey counters featuring red and white accents ensuring optimal readability.

A new function makes its entry into the AMVOX line: the radial power-reserve display. On the AMVOX7 Chronograph, this indication appears through two apertures in the upper part of the inner bezel ring, on either side of the black dial. When the watch is wound, the red powerreserve discs draw closer as if to embrace the 12 o’clock numeral, and as the barrel winds down, they disappear again in order to gradually reveal the chronograph levers. Once again, this instinctively perceived display mode is entirely in tune with the sense of immediacy created by a sporty driving mode.

The grade 5 titanium case is enhanced by supremely refined technical finishes. The bevels of the lugs are meticulously polished, while the ornamentation of the crown and the trigger are distinguished by alternating shotpeened, polished and satin-brushed surfaces. Finally, the case middle and the underside of the lugs are delicately horizontally satin-brushed.

In 2005, the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre presented the brand-new vertical-trigger chronograph. It represented the first intuitive technique serving to measure short time intervals. Before the start of an event, the user no longer needs to hold the push-piece down in order to ensure instant activation of a race start, because a simple press on the watch glass is enough to pivot the case along its horizontal axis and thus immediately start a new measurement. Like all revolutionary inventions, this system appeared so simple that sports enthusiasts keen to time the progress of their performances already wondered how they could have done without it. A press at 12 o’clock starts or stops the chronograph mechanism, while the same operation performed on the lower end of the dial resets the chronograph hand to zero. To avoid any inadvertent handling, a trigger located on the side of the case serves as a control lever: when placed in its central position, all the chronograph functions operate according to the above description. Conversely, the locked position, when it is pushed upwards, blocks the chronograph, while the lower position serves to start or stop the chronograph, but also to deactivate the resetting function.

This intuitive immediately is not confined exclusively to the watch mechanism, but also extends to the displays. The chronograph counters on the openworked black dial appear in anthracite grey, the two colours making a perfect contrast with the white hands and numerals. The everuseful movement operating indicator occupies the lower part of the dial, above the date window at 6 o’clock.

Technology to match the aesthetics

Moreover, the bodywork of this high-tech device built for fine performances has also been the object of meticulous care, and the case of the AMVOX has been given a complete facelift. It now incorporates lugs in the shape of a monobloc construction that enabled improved integration of the strap to ensure an optimally ergonomic fit. The crown has undergone a similar evolution: also integrated into the case, it now offers the two-fold advantage of an easier grip and more accurate handling. However essential, these characteristics must nonetheless not divert attention from a crucial breakthrough achieved by the subtle change in the shape of the case in order to facilitate improved positioning on the wrist. The addition of a new element on the case-back enables the wristband to maintain a perfect curve and thus guarantee the ergonomic fit of the watch on the forearm. This proves a decisive asset on the road as well as in other situations of daily life where even the slightest discomfort may be a hindrance to taking immediate and appropriate decisions.

For both Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin, it would have been inconceivable to stop there. While others might have been satisfied with the result achieved, the development team of the AMVOX7 Chronograph further enriched this prodigious range of innovations with a system enabling quick and easy wristband change according to the mood and the needs of the moment: a metal bracelet will prove a worthy companion for sporting feats and outdoor activities, while the sobriety of its leather counterpart will accentuate the distinction of a watch that smoothly adapts to the most elegant circumstances.

Such sterling qualities call for an “engine” endowed with characteristics on a par with the expectations generated by such an impressive appearance. In this field too, connoisseurs will appreciate the Jaeger-LeCoultre mechanical automatic Calibre 756. The Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique on Huaihai Road in Shanghai carries some of the most exquisite timepieces turned out by the brand, from its brand new gem-set Rendez-Vous ladies' wristwatches to the astounding Atmos clock. Actress Zhao Wei visits Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre in Switzerland


Zhao Wei, a renowned Chinese film actress and a friend of Jaeger-LeCoultre, visited the brand’s manufacturing facilities in the Valley de Joux, Switzerland.

Hosted by Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jerome Lambert, Zhao Wei discovered different stages of watch manufacturing, decoration and assembly. Impressed by the work of watchmakers that requires an incredible amount of patience and precision, Zhao Wei particularly admired gem setting and enamelling techniques that went into making the Rendez-Vous, a new ladies High Jewellery watch by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Zhao Wei visited Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, testifying to almost 180 years of continuous development on a single site and the unique integration of all skills under one roof. Nexus Racing has won the 13th Malaysian Merdeka Endurance Race 2012. For Nexus Racing this is the 2nd year in succession that they have taken a clean chequered flag win after 283 laps at the Sepang F1 circuit. The 13th anniversary of this grueling day/night endurance race saw little drama as the Nexus Racing team of drivers consisting Fahrizal Hassan, Adrian D’Silva and Daniel Bilksi drove a perfect race in their Aston Martin GT4. The Aston Martin GT4 has become a major force in the world racing.







The Privasia, Carnauba AutoSpa and Nexus Mega Carrier sponsored the Nexus Racing team and worked like well-engineered clock-work from start to finish in this 12-hour race. The discipline was particularly important to the Nexus Racing engineering team members as the GT4 car is close to some of the more exotic vehicles found in Formula One racing. The high quality engineering of the Nexus Racing team matches that of the watches of its sponsor Jaeger-LeCoultre who is also the official luxury timepiece for Aston Martin cars.

At the event, several collections of the AMVOX Racing, AMVOX chronograph and AMVOX Tourbillon were presented to the audience, which proved to be a great feast for their eyes, coupled with the Aston Martin cars.

Jaeger-LeCoultre seals once again its bond with art and cinema sponsoring for the first year the 60th International San Sebastián Film Festival (Spain). During the festival a selection of the best international movies from among productions worldwide will compete for the Golden Shell and other official Festival awards.

The Film Festival Opening ceremony took place on Friday September 21st 2012 with the screening of the “Arbitrage” film and the Gala Party attended by around 1,000 international guests. The Arbitrage is one of 14 films in the running for the San Sebastian Film Festival’s Golden Shell award. Susan Sarandon, starring in the film, is also up for the acting award. About Festival de San Sebastián

This year the Festival will be celebrating its 60th consecutive edition. Conceived as an International Film Week for the purpose of screening and marketing films, it was not long before the IFFPA granted it B status (non-competitive), thanks to the success of its first edition. A year later it was called the International Film Festival, and in 1955 the IFFPA recognized the festival as competitive, specializing in colour films. September 5, 2012, Venice - The world of cinema and the world of watchmaking met last night in the City of Doges as Jaeger-LeCoultre, official partner of the Venice Film Festival, hosted a Gala Dinner attended by numerous talents and international guests to unveil its new ladies collection: the Rendez-Vous.

The Biennale, a famous location in the cinema world, with its architecture and décor reflecting the very best of Venetian style with spectacular chandeliers made of Murano glass, became a showcase to discover the finest creations highlighting the multiple talents of Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmaking artisans.

A cocktail on the terrace overlooking the city of Venice, with its mythical gondolas slowly passing by, offered an enchanting setting to start the journey into the world of High Watchmaking. The artisans of the Manufacture became the “stars” as camera lights were turned to bring their skills into focus during the night: enamelling, gem-setting and engraving, skilfully mastered to create the rarest creations on show.

The guests entered into a spacious room decorated with Venetian flower motifs and chosen to reveal the newest ladies’ timepieces by the Grande Maison: the Rendez-Vous. The film “Time is Feminine” by Jaeger-LeCoultre was projected onto the walls and a ray of light illuminated a glass sculpture representing a flower that slowly blossomed to the enchanting sounds of the harp. The rose opened to reveal three masterful interpretations of time from Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous High Jewellery Collection with a rose blossoming on their dials. Radiating a fascinatingly realistic elegance, the queen of flowers spreads gracefully, each time presenting itself in a new light. A rose in the natural mother-of-pearl in fresh light shades on the dial of Rendez-Vous Wild Rose, a rose with softly graded shades of opaque and translucent enamels wed with a tourbillon mechanism on the dial of Rendez-Vous Tourbillon Enamel, and a rose spectacularly paved with diamonds and rubies using the snow-setting technique for the dial of the Rendez-Vous Art. The prize was conferred to Director Spike Lee at the awards ceremony which took place on Friday, August 31st during the 69th Venice Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera and organized by the Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta.

Following the awards ceremony, the 69th Venice Film Festival presented the world premiere screening of the new documentary by Spike Lee,
Bad 25, filmed on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s historic album, Bad.

On the occasion of the 69th Venice Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre is pursuing its partnership with Emergency, a humanitarian organisation established in 1994 to help the victims of civil wars and poverty, by supporting maternity hospital opened by Emergency at Anabah in Afghanistan, a country where the health of mothers and their children is an urgent daily concern.

Every month over 300 children are born in the maternity hospital of Anabah.

At an average rate of 10 childbirths per day, over 100 babies are expected during the Venice Film Festival, and Jaeger-LeCoultre will finance the centre for the entire duration of the festival. Cinema stars will join Jaeger-LeCoultre in its commitment.

Actress Cristiana Capotondi, the patroness of this initiative, visited the Afghan maternity centre and posed for photos in the surrounding rose garden, in order to provide concrete evidence of the contribution Jaeger-LeCoultre intends to make during the Venice Film Festival.

The “A Rose for Emergency” project by Jaeger-LeCoultre was indeed inspired by these precious blooms. In Afghanistan, a rose is a much appreciated and meaningful flower: it is a symbol of love, of purity, of delicacy and of life, a flower that blossoms in a country devastated by war and poverty. Like the other Afghan Emergency centres that are also surrounded by superb gardens, the maternity centre is set amid a beautiful rose garden.

In support of this important project, celebrities joining the humanitarian action will walk the red carpet in Venice holding a rose and wearing the watch that symbolises this operation. The watches will then be sold by Christie’s auction house and proceeds will entirely be donated to Emergency in order to help fund the centre.

Antiquorum’s auction of “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” held on August 25, 2012 at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, closed with the outstanding result of HKD $13,650,438. according to their press release. Of the 211 timepieces offered, several lots sold for four or five times their pre-sale estimate and overall, a remarkable 80.6% was sold, representing 131% by value.

A collection of rare tourbillons, selections from unusual modern brands and interesting Seiko clocks were among the items offered, driving intense interest and competitive bidding among collectors from around the world.

The exceptional Jaeger LeCoultre Ref.233.64.20, "Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2" in Platinum (lot 211) was undoubtedly the highlight of the sale. The rare Jaeger LeCoultre inspired tremendous excitement in the auction room and on the telephone, and was sold to a European collector at the remarkable price of HKD $1,880,000 (including buyer’s premium).

Glamour will reach new heights at the opening ceremony of the Venice International Film Festival, where a whole host of beautiful stars will once again grace the red carpet. Among the finest models on show will be two timepieces from the Rendez-Vous collection. Admirably reflecting its ambassadress Diane Kruger, the Rendez-Vous line embodies a free-spirited and spontaneous personality that constantly reinvents itself in order to spring new surprises. For the Venice International Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents two Rendez-Vous Art Haute Joaillerie creations spectacularly paved using the snow-setting technique: one with diamonds and the other with blue sapphires and rubies. The meticulously hand-crafted gem-setting surrounds the models with an incomparably luminous glow.

Since its founding, the Grande Maison has associated mechanical perfection with the most attractive and complex gem-setting techniques. Created thanks to the expertise of exceptional artists, they celebrate an alliance between beauty and precision. The decoration using the snowsetting process is performed directly on the watch case. The gem-setter places the diamonds individually, nestling against each other and harmoniously combining stones of various sizes so as to entirely cover the metal of the watch. Such creative freedom requires considerable knowhow and an extremely keen sense of observation.

And to lend an additional touch of charm, Jaeger-LeCoultre designers and Valextra have created the Rendez-Vous clutch bag – a new way of wearing a watch like an indispensable, ultra-trendy accessory.

One rose, one child

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s participation in the Venice Film Festival takes on a particularly human dimension thanks to its support for Emergency, a humanitarian association founded in 1994, present in over 16 countries and dedicated to helping civilians who are victims of armed conflict and of poverty. Throughout the duration of the festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be funding the maternity centre that Emergency has opened in Anabah, Afghanistan. Artists will also make their contribution by wearing Reverso models engraved with a rose – a task specially performed for the occasion by the artisans of the Manufacture. The Venice Biennial and Jaeger-LeCoultre are pleased to announce that the famous American director, scriptwriter, actor and producer Spike Lee will be awarded the 2012 Jaeger-LeCoultre “Glory to the Filmmaker” prize at this year’s edition of the Venice International Film Festival. Jaeger-LeCoultre launches Honey from the Vallée de Joux.

True to its historic roots located in an exceptional place between lake and forests in the Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre remains particularly concerned by and involved in the integration of its Manufacture within its natural environment. Since July, observant visitors can spot ten hives newly installed in front of the entrance of the Grand Watchmaking House, or Grande Maison as it is known in French.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has decided to offer an authentic, original souvenir – a unique product from the Vallée de Joux – to each of its visitors. From now on, in addition to discovering the world of Swiss Fine Watchmaking, every visitor to the Manufacture will have the opportunity of tasting “Honey from the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre”.



The Grande Maison has decided to start its own production. Concerned about producing the best quality honey possible and with respecting biodiversity, Jaeger-LeCoultre called upon Franck Crozet, a professional bee keeper in the region, to install and take care of the ten hives set up in front of the Manufacture.

The aim of this initiative is to make visitors from all over the world, as well as the 1,200 employees, aware of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s commitment to preserving the environment. Bees play a key role in nature – by transporting pollen from flowers that they visit, they contribute to the reproduction of plant species. Today, they are a threatened species and this is a good opportunity for the Manufacture to give them a helping hand.

A number of 200 prestigious Jaeger-LeCoultre guests in Singapore on 25 July 2012 were hosted in the latest Singapore’s spectacular and iconic design venue, Gardens by the Bay - an enchanting location, the Flower Dome (Click here for more on this magical location), where unique plants bloom in a perpetual spring to celebrate the birth of the latest Jaeger- LeCoultre collection: “Rendez-Vous”, a watch embodying a spontaneous personality that is constantly reinvented and perpetually surprising.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has always devoted special attention to feminine timepieces, in terms of both their aesthetics and their mechanism. This tradition particularly dates back to the first round movements featuring an extremely small diameter, such as the LeCoultre Calibre 7HP created in the 1880s and which equipped enamelled, diamond-set and pearl-beaded watches, often worn around the neck. And interesting enough to be highlighted that contrary to common belief, the first wristwatches were worn by women in the 19th century, before being adopted by men who had long clung to their preference for the supposedly masculine elegance of pocket-watches. More than 80% of the world's flower species are supposedly displayed within the 1.2 hectares Flower Dome, and appropriately is also the perfect venue for the launch of Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous range of ladies timepieces.

First launched globally at the Shanghai Film Festival on June 2012, Singapore is one of the first countries in the world to have the honour of presenting the Rendez-Vous to Jaeger-LeCoultre's Singapore VIP clients.
