Default Basel 2007 at the Independents: Part 2 (Greubel Forsey)

I had heard whispers that Greubel Forsey was planning an impressive new model line-up this year and they did not disappoint!

Stephen Forsey was pulling incredible timepieces out from under his polishing cloth like a magician. The difference being that even though
Stephen had the white gloves, the incredible watches he produced were certainly not illusions.

I never get tired of looking at Greubel Forsey's Double Tourbillon 30°; however. . .

Greubel Forsey now offer a version of the DT30° with a full dial: the Secret.

The DT30° with the cut out dial is now called Vision.

The Tourbillon 24 Secondes Incliné (T24Si) (above) has passed through Greubel's Forsey's EWT® laboratory testing with flying colours
and joins the DT30° as a fully finished Invention.

T24Si back

T24Si side view

The fast rotation speed of the T24Si's tourbillion carriage - 24 seconds rather than the more usually 60 seconds - may provide
superior timekeeping performance . . . but it does make it harder to freeze the action!

Despite strong competition from its stablemates, Greubel Forsey's new Invention Piece 1 was the undisputed star of the show.

The time indications are more reminiscent of an astronomical display than

Robert and Stephen crafted Invention Piece 1 to pay homage to their DT30°. The only problem for those discerning collectors with
deep pockets will be getting hold of one of these rare beauties: there willl only be 11 crafted in white gold and 11 in red gold.

As Josh's image above shows, the back of Invention Piece 1 has the story of Greubel Forsey
and the Double Tourbillon 30° engraved in miniture bas relief.

Not quite sure how to tell the time? The red arrow pointing towards the center of the dial indicates the hours, while the blue arrow
displays the minutes. The inside tourbillon cage rotates in two minutes so there are two arrows 180° apart.

The time shown above is 5:17.

To complete the indications on the dial we have small secondes at 11 (traditional) and 72 hour power reserve at 2 (traditional).

WIsh I could have been there and done a David Blaine on the Invention Piece 1. The Secret would have been truly stealth if not for the wordings and perhaps a solid caseback with only a side window like the T24Si.

Thanks for this photo essay. Personally for me, looking on Stephen Forsey always promises " this man has prepared something amazing”. And the intuition (or possibly back experience) is right. Invention Piece 1 is salute to Double Tourbillon 30°.
Sincere thank for this small holiday.

The Invention Piece No.1 is truly the watch of the year. In my humble personal opinion of course.

These look like a great watches!! I love the T24Si side view window... that would probably be my favourite watch of the lot.

by the way, if the limited edition is 11 pieces, but they make a 00/11 piece, doesn't that make 12 pieces in the series?

What is written on the back? Seems too long for the usual "23 Jewels" and "Swiss Made" and "adjusted in 6 positions" :-)

Default The text on the back is the complete story of the Double Tourbillon 30°

told by Robert and Stephen in minature bas relief engraving.

The text is something personal between the owner of the watch and Greubel Forsey so is not for publication . . . you will have to buy on to find out what it says!
