Default A "BLU" night......

Dear Horomundians,

As most of you would have seen in my previous report that Dickson Watch and Jewellery Singapore has introduced 4 new brands (BLU, Frank Villa, Villemont and Romain Jerome) to the Singaproe Horology market earlier this week (click here for the report if you have not read it), Dickson Singapore went further to host a dinner reception to some collectors and customers to officially introduce one of the brands: BLU to the public!

Some of you might ask who is BLU? Well, BLU stands for Bernhard Lederer Universe, a company created by Bernhard Lederer himself in 2000 when he moves to Switzerland,a place internationally recohgnized as the core of modern watchmaking! Bernhard Lederer, also a member of the A.H.C.I. since 1985, is a master watchmaker familiar with both complicated clocks and watches. For more information about Bernhard Lederer, please visit his website for more details

Okay, back to the "Blu Dinner". It was held at the scenic Il Lido at Sentosa Golf Club, wonderful atmosphere, great food, nice watches to "play" with and most importantly great company! Below are some photos I have taken last night:

Bernhard getting ready with the watches for his first "official appearance" in Singapore with the collectors and customers

Some blus watches on the table, they are not locked in show-cases like most dinners but put on the tables for guests to help themselves for the viewing - Great move!

Some of the early birds: Jeffrey Sim and Joseph Koh admiring a blu model, together with Kelvin Lim, General Manager of Dickson Watch & Jewellery Singapore.

Guests admiring at the various models and collections available. In fact, almost the entire collections from BLU were there last night, except some variations which were out of stock.

Ewa Lederer is as entusiastic as Bernhard, seen here explaining to guests on the blu Galaxy. In the middle is our good friend Jim Seah.

Seated are Jim Seah, Duncan Wang, Larry Wee and Bernard Lederer, Kelvin Lim is standing behind, getting ready for the start of the dinner, while most were still admiring the watches.

Harry Tan like the Open Planet so much that he is happy to pose for me this shot with the Open Planet

Dinner is about to be served...... Linda and CH Liauw seated on the right.

Guests seated while Kelvin was getting ready to start his opening speech....

Kelvin welcoming the guests, for the very first Dickson Watch & Jewellery Singapore's dinner reception. With Kelvin on the helm, we are sure there would be more to come

Frank Low, CEO of Luxury Concepts, Authorized Distributor of the brand BLU in S.E.Asia, is happy to see so many people there and is extremely optimistic with their new partner Dickson in promoting the brand here in Singapore.

This is Bernhard's first trip to Singapore and I believe he is already in love with this hot, humid but lovely island country

At the end of the event, a group photo for all Dickson staffs With Mr. & Mrs. Lederer and Mr. & Mrs. Frank Low.

Most, if not all, of us had a great time last time, thanks to Bernhard and Ewa Lederer, Frank, Kelvin and all Dickson staffs for a wonderful evening.

Last but not least, some photos of the food we had last night just to wet some appetite before lunch, heehee

Beef tenderloin with ratte potato, endive and mustard sauce

Pan roasted atlantic cod with mash potato and tropea onions

Last but not least, some photos of the food we had last night just to wet some appetite before lunch, heehee

I have also taken some photos of the blu watches and will share with you guys in the next post that should follow shortly, after lunch

Cheers

Default Some BLU watches.....

Hi folks,

I have taken some photos of various BLU collections these 2 days and would like to share some photos with you all here

Bascially, there are 5 collections: Classics, Planets, Galaxy, Tourbillons and Fine Jewels. Below are just some examples I have taken, though not for all models and collections....

Classics Collection

blu Duett:

blu Terzett:

blu Quintett:

Have you wonder why the name of Duett, Terzett and Quintett? Well, if you look carefully, Duett has 2 functions - telling the time and date, Terzett has 3 functions telling hour, minute and date "separately", Quintett telling hour, minute, month, day and date separately.....

Planets Collection

Gents blu Paris:

Gents blu Open Planet:

Ladies blu Moonlight:

Ladies blu Sunflower:

These are only some of the Planets collection models that I have taken and there are many other more. Let me know if there is any specific pieces you might want to see and I will try to photograph it should it be available with the local retailer.

Galaxy Collection

LADY blu Galaxy:

This is one of the most difficult piece to shoot due to the complex dial reflection, sorry for the poor quality shot

Tourbillons Collection

blu MT3 (the Majestic Tourbillon 3 in Rose Gold):

I think the reason for me to take so many shots on this phenomenal creation of the master watchmaker is very obvious, right? You must see this in metal to really able to appreciate this remarkable time piece, to understand what is the real meaning of "LESS IS MORE"!

blu LT3 (the Lady Tourbillon 3 in white gold):

Hope you like these photos I have taken

Cheers

Are you kidding? I love the photos you have taken! The watches however are not really my cup of tea, except for that great tourbillon. Wow

Would love to see them in the flesh some day and I think mister Lederer brought us WIS something to talk about...

Hi Pau,

The blu Planet collection, which was presented by BLU in 2002, was actually designed and constructed by Bernhard Lederer in 1997 and later became a flagship model of BLU!

The blu Open Planet has the case diameter of 44 mm, made of Stainless Steel.
There are two choices of "dial" available, one with the "normal" black carbon fibre, whereas the other wieh palladium carbon fibre - achieved by a similar carbon fibre making technique (except it is technically no carbon fibre as the real carbon fibre cannot be coated with other colour than Black), then coated with aluminium for the palladium look effect (if I understand correctly ).
This remarkable watch houses a mechanical automatic winding movement, with tremendous effort being diverted into this unique way of the presentation of Time - telling the Hour and Minute!

Look at this "open face" in the dial, the gears and wheels and one can easily understand the amount of time Bernhard Lederer has put in to create this unique time piece!

I have only managed to capture the "palladium carbon fibre" version as the black carbon version is not available in Singapore yet:

Ref. N26/750.10.9/D, Stainless steel case, palladium carbon fiber, Ø44

With the 7% GST (VAT), it is retailing in Singapore at S$22'300, which is equivalent to around US$15'000 (excluding VAT). However, the retail prices vary with countries and please check with BLU directly or your local AD for your local Price List.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Default I like the Terzett and...

the Sunflower!

I'm sure the Sunflower Ladies will be a hit! Personally, it is the Terzett or the Open Planet for me.

Great pix and thanks for sharing KC.

Thanks to Dickson for hosting us that evening.

I enjoyed a peek through the MT3's "windows". And the watches sit well on slim wrists.

Thanks to Dickson, BLU and Luxury Concepts for hosting us to a cosy and enjoyable evening. And may this new effort by Dickson bring them and their partners greater returns in the long term.

Yes, very good move indeed. Shows the level and amount of trust both Bernhard and Kelvin has of collectors. Nothing beats "show and tell" for us kids in any watch event!

Palladium is seldom used as a watch casing or dial material, so this is very interesting for me. Definitely would like to examine it close up bro!

Wow, haven't seen Harry with such a huge for quite a while. He must be really impressed with the MT3 as I am!

See you guys soon!

Default Congrats to both Bernhard and Dickson Watch...

Having seen the collection at the launch dinner, the MT3 and Open Planet are both impressive and will be winners in the sales stakes - at least the Open Planet will be in my personal opinion. At the price point, for the design, quality and materials the BLU OPEN PLANET to me is such a wonderful buy. My heartiest congrats KC!

The MT3 toubillon in PG was immediately impressed me and clearly able to stand out amongst the sea of BLU watches. For me, this watch must be dark horse for the award for Best Watches of 2008.

I hope to share with forummers the images when I get a chance to photograph this beauty.

Cheers

Default Here are some of the captures I had of the dinner...

Again, none of the watches (which should come later when I have the chance to shoot the MT3).
