Default Maîtres du Temp presents 'Chapter One'

Over the last year I have been extremely fortunate in having had the opportunity to follow the development of both Maîtres du Temp and
their first watch, Chapter One.

Witnessing at first hand the birth of a new brand and the development of an interesting new timepiece is an incredible educational experience.

Maîtres du Temp's first watch, 'Chapter One', is a collaboration of (L to R) Roger Dubuis, Peter Speake-Marin and Christophe Claret.

There were many meetings such as these over the last couple of years where the 'Masters' of Chapter One continually refined the watch.

Roger Dubuis and Peter Speake-Marin take some time out with the Chapter One prototype.

Steven Holtzman (Founder of Maîtres du Temps), Peter Speake-Marin and Alex Nobile (President of Maîtres du Temps)

Christophe Claret and Steven Holtzman

Show Time- After 3 years development the presentation begins.

Chapter One: Manual-wind, one-minute tourbillon, mono-pusher chronograph, retrograde date indicator, retrograde GMT indicator, day of the week indication on roller, phase indication on roller.

Roger Dubuis and friends discuss the development of Chapter One

The corrections on the side of the case slide to lock down when not in use. This reduces the overall size of the watch and ensures that they are not activated inadvertently.

Maîtres du Temp produce a film about the development of Chapter One and the Masters behind it. The film was sceening in a small 'Cinema room' beside the main presentation conference room. The film is undergoing some final editing and I hope to be able to share that with you shortly.

After 3 long years, Steven Holtzman finally gets to enjoy the fruit of his labour.

Thanks Ian, I love the day indicator on the roller, it is very interesting to see what they came up with over the last few years. You can definitely see each watchmakers influence in the watch and it's design.
Great report. I can't wait to see the video.

Phil

Default Fabulous Timepiece

Hi Ian,
That is a fabulous timepiece by itself. The design is almost traditional, and yet, the viewing windows of the watch allow for the inventiveness of the watch speak for itself. The roller like day displays for days and moonphase are cool - Great design...I am sure the price tag will be hideously high!
Any ideas about the prices mate?
...Good luck to 'Maitres du Temp..
Cheers,
Prem

Default Now I wonder if Chapter 11

will be like floor 13, i.e. 'skipped'. Time will tell.

Default Super...

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the post and for introducing me to Steven and his team. It is a first class operation all around and it was my pleasure to meet them and see Chapter 1. I wish them great success and look forward to the reading the rest of the book! ;-)

Default What a gorgeous wristwatch!

. . . thanks Ian and congratulations to Maitres Du Temps- best use so far I have seen of roller indications as well. It's amazing how much flavor of each watchmaker this piece has as well, the personality of each of the principles in the project really comes through.

Default Nice pics Ian

It seems that a lot of well-deserved interest was generated for 'Chapter 1', a big 'well done' to Steven Holtzman and especially to his team of masters...

I had the privilege of sitting in that screening room with Ian and the charming Margaret Pane of MDT to watch the film, and I must say I was very impressed.

The watch, as expected from the men who created it, is beautiful.

Thanks again Ian !
